Anthem of Freedom

Anthem of Freedom is a physical, for-charity DSMP anthology centered around the members of L’manberg after its downfall. Pieces will focus on the aftermath of L’manberg’s destruction via the characters associated with it, which can be found in the Content section.

FAQ

What is a Zine?
A zine is a collection of artistic works (mostly written/drawn) all centered around a theme. This zine is specifically a fanzine, which means it is made by fans and for fans who all follow the theme of the zine. It’s comparable to a book or magazine!

What is the zine’s theme?
This zine focuses on the members of L’manburg after L’manburg’s fall.

Will ships be allowed in this zine?
Yes, but only in the background. Some ships are not allowed altogether to respect content creators’ boundaries. Similarly, some characters will be limited to the background or very brief mentions (such as Techno and Ranboo) to respect their wishes.

Is NSFW allowed in the zine?
No. This zine is strictly SFW.

Can I participate if I’m under 18?
Yes, of course! You must be at least 13 so that we’re in compliance with Discord’s TOS, but you’re allowed to participate even if you’re a minor.

How will contributors be compensated?
Contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine and digital merch regardless of if we break even. At our first breakeven point, contributors will receive the zine-only bundle with free shipping, and at our last breakeven point they will receive the full bundle for free, including any stretch goals that are unlocked.

Are AU’s allowed?
Yes!

Is this zine inviting guests? When will guests be invited?
Yes! Guests will be invited as soon as we decide on them.

Will the zine be digital or physical? And will it be free?
To be honest we haven’t decided on that yet. It depends what people want (Check our Interest Check). We will keep you updated, of course.

Will there be a Discord Server?
Yes! It will be open to the Mods and all the contributors once we chose the Artists and Writers.

How can I help?
The easiest way to help is to spread the word and help us get out there. You can also apply for one contributor place.

Will the Zine be a “one-off”? Or will there be regular updates?
The Fanzine will probably be a “one-off” - means we’re aiming to publish one Issue, and one Issue only. This might change though. We’ll also keep you updated on this!

APPLICATIONS:

Who can contribute? And when can you apply?
Anyone can apply - Artists, Writers… it doesn’t matter! Everyone is welcome. Applications will be open from October 7th to November 18th. In this period Artists, Merch Artists and Writers can apply to this Zine.

Will I hear back from you, even if I got rejected?
Yes! We’ll send emails to everyone who has applied.
If you get a positive response from us you have until the 9th of December to accept it.

Can I apply for more than one position?
Of course! It’s very likely that you’ll only be accepted for one position, but you can apply for as many as you’d like!

Will moderators be allowed to contribute?
Yes!

When will I hear back from you guys?
You’ll hear about the status of your application on December 2nd if you’re applying as a contributor. Any delays will be communicated over on our Twitter account!

Are you giving feedback?
This answer is largely dependent on the volume of applications we receive.

CREATION PROCESS:

Can I reuse a piece that I created earlier?
No. All pieces must be original and created exclusively for this zine.

How long do we have to create our piece(s)?
You’ll have approximately 4 months from the acceptance deadline, with check-ins every month.

When will I be allowed to post my full piece publicly?
Once pre-orders close, buyers have received their packages, and leftover sales are being readied, you will be allowed to post your full piece. Otherwise, you may post previews that showcase no more than 50% of your piece.

Can I use my piece in portfolios after I finish it?
Yes. Until you are allowed to post it, however, we ask that you only use it in private portfolios that you are sharing with the moderators of that zine only. We also ask that you include a note that the piece is not to be distributed.

Can I sell my finished piece/use it on personal merchandise?
Yes, of course. You may do so after leftover sales have ended, and at no prior point.

Like we said in the beginning; if you still have any questions left unanswered, please don’t hesitate to write us. We’ll be more than happy to provide answers.

CONTENT

Pieces for this zine will follow the general theme outlined. They can be set in any era, but general categories will be: Revolution era (From conception to the end of the war), Schlatt era (from the election to the first destruction of L’manburg), and Post Schlatt era (from his death to Doomsday). Listed below are the characters that are permitted to have fics/art center around them. Any other DSMP members should be background only, including Ranboo.

Acceptable Characters:
Wilbur
Tommy
Tubbo
Fundy
Niki
Eret
Jack
Phil
Quackity
Schlatt

Additionally, if we have enough interest among applicants, we may consider the production of an AU side zine. In this, your piece may be set in an AU that does not change the setting, and you may feature characters only associated with L’manberg. So, while you may write in a universe where Puffy is a core member of L’manberg, or decide that Eret double-crosses Dream in the Final Control Room, you can’t exactly write about the two of them working at a modern-day coffee shop together.

You are welcome to write about more than one character on the acceptable character list and/or the list below, but anyone outside of it (Sam, Dream, DreamXD, Bad, Ant, Skeppy, HBomb, Connor, Vikkstar, Lazarbeam, Foolish, Hannah, Charlie (Slimecicle), and Micheal) should be background or supporting character.

Other members associated with L’manburg that can be featured include: Purpled, Ponk, Puffy, Sapnap, George, Punz, Callahan, Drista, and Karl.

MEET THE MODS

Mod Amadè [Co-Head, Art, Social Mod]
Amadé (Or just Ama) is quite new to the DSMP fandom since they joined around August but they're already loving it. From the very beginning they're a big L'Manberg fan so they decided to organise this Fanzine project. It's their very first time doing a Fanzine and they're excited.
They’ve been drawing digital art for a while now (started around 6~7 years ago) but they've been drawing since they're able to hold a pencil.

Mod Plus [Art & Graphics Mod]
Mod Plus joined the DSMP fandom around December last year, and he’s a big L’manburg enthusiast. He’s been a contributor artist for both the Todobowl Bang and Todoroki Big Bang, and is currently an art and graphics moderator for XDivination: a DSMP Tarot Zine. He’s been doing digital art for about 3 years, and was drawing traditionally long before that.

Mod Soul [Co-Head, Finance/Shipping Mod]
Mod Soul is a bit of a lowkey DSMP fan, but the former members have her heart. She has been the head of I Am Ferdinand Von Aegir!, New Dawn, and RANK UP!, a writing mod for Sanguine Songbird and Eclipse, an organizational mod for Love’s Encounter and Color Me Fodlan, a discord mod for Ties of Time, a filler mod for Brand New Days, and much more. She has had experience writing in 10+ other zines.
